Which One Are You?
December 5, Monday of the Second Week of Advent
Daily Readings: Is 35:1-10, Ps 85:9ab and 10, 11-12, 13-14, Gospel Luke 5:17-26
There are a lot of good things to consider in the Gospel Reading today.
One: the crowd who brought the paralyzed man to Jesus in a different manner, who were they? Were they relatives or friends of the paralyzed man? It reminds me of the Bayanihan system in the Philippines, an act of kindness that brings people together when it is needed the most. They did find a way for the man to be near Jesus so that he could be healed.
Do we also go out of our way to let people know about Jesus? Do we do what we can so that those who need Him the most can also experience His love and healing?
Two: those who were in disbelief had a change of heart. Then astonishment seized them all and they glorified God, and, struck with awe, they said, “We have seen incredible things today.” Unlike the Pharisees, who had nothing but envy in their hearts. They saw Jesus do great things and yet they refuse to see. But the people saw with their eyes and in their hearts that the Son of Man was with them.
Are we a group of disbelievers who find wrong in everything that people do? Or do we still find ways to see whatever goodness is there among our neighbors? Or are we the ones who questions God’s love for us? Are we stuck with this kind of mentality that God only loves those he can consider loving or those who are good?
More often than not, those who question God are usually the ones who find it hard to forgive or to even love. While those who do, usually love because they know it is the right thing to do.
So, which one are you?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
