July 14, Friday of the fourteenth week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: 1st Reading, Genesis: 46:1–7; 28–30; Gospel: Matthew 10:16–23

Nowadays, with all the glory of modern technology, we always refer to Mr. Google for answers. It seems that there are no questions that cannot be answered. If we go to a new place, there’s a Google map. Such information gives us a certain certainty. Or is it so? Can information truly give us that sense of security? Can this sense of security of modern times make us forget the presence of God, who guides and protects us every step of the way?

The readings for today assure Jacob and Jesus’ disciples of the protection of God in the midst of challenges and difficulties. Like a good Formator, Jesus prepared his followers for the mission. The radical love of Jesus’ ministry can often be misunderstood and may lead to persecution. Faith in God’s loving assurance becomes their driving force to enkindle the zeal for mission in risky situations.

Sometimes technology satisfies our minds but not our hearts. God fills that gap and gives us a deeper assurance that only God can give as we say yes to His will. Do not be afraid, because God is always with us on our journey into the unknown.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
