Today's Gospel highlights the importance of responding to God's call and the consequences of rejecting Him. Jesus laments over the cities of Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, saying that if the mighty works He performed there had been done in Tyre and Sidon, those people would have repented and turned to God.

Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum were privileged to have Jesus Himself proclaim the kingdom of God to them. Unfortunately, they failed to listen and accept Him, resulting in a severe warning from Jesus.

These cautions are given to save lives, not to threaten. They serve as an invitation to accept the good news, as embracing the Gospel and its values saves us from perishing and punishment. In reality, non-acceptance itself is the punishment because it causes us to lose the offered grace.

Many of us have witnessed the mighty hand of God in our lives at particular moments.

Call to Action for Catholic Living: Let us thank God for the wonders He has worked and continue to walk in His ways. When our lives are not aligned with Gospel values, let us take it as a caution to re-examine and follow Him more intensely. With more love and more power, we will follow Him more closely. Amen.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
