Privilege to Witness
April 2, Tuesday in the Octave of Easter
Daily Readings: Acts 2:36-41; John 20:11-18
The first reading shows that the disciples continue proclaiming the Resurrection of Jesus and calling the people for conversion. The disciples encouraged people to believe and undergo baptism in Jesus' name. The responsorial psalm acknowledges the goodness of God to all his creation.
On the other hand, the gospel for today reflects how Mary Magdalene loved and respected Jesus as she went to visit his tomb. Her sadness increased as she discovered the body of Jesus, the missing. But she was consoled when she saw Jesus standing in front of her, alive, and even gave her the instruction, “Go to my brethren, and say to them: I ascend to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”
Having the privilege to witness that Jesus was resurrected from the dead signifies how blessed a person is. When the late St. John Paul II visited the Philippines, it was a great privilege to see him face-to-face. As his moving car passed by, I felt so blessed, and there was an unexplainable joy in my heart.
Seeing his angelic face and receiving his blessing as he extends his hand to bless his people is truly an unforgettable experience that is so pleasant to recall now.
Lord, thank you for the opportunity and privilege to witness your love for us. Amen.
