Our Mission is for the Greater Glory Of God
July 11, Memorial of Saint Benedict, abbot
Daily Readings: Hosea 11:1-4, 8e-9; Matthew 10:7-15
Jesus is sending out his apostles to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He gives them a clear mission: to go to the lost sheep of Israel and to proclaim the kingdom of heaven. Jesus calls the humble, vulnerable People and gives them authority to drive out impure spirits and to heal every disease. Jesus tells them not to take extra clothes or money, but rather to trust in the providence of God.
This is a powerful and life-changing gift not only to the apostles but to us as well. This is a call to radical dependence on God, and a willingness to trust in His goodness even in the face of uncertainty. As followers of Christ, we can be confident in the providence of God even in the midst of challenges and difficulties.
The mission is not ours but it is God’s mission. We must be proud and happy that we are called and sent by God. As messengers of the kingdom, let us proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. God will give us courage to take risks and accomplish the mission.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: We shall ask God’s grace to support and encourage one another. Our ultimate goal is not to impress others but to proclaim the good news, to glorify God and honour His name.
Our mission, in the words of St. Ignatius of Loyola, is for the greater glory of God. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
