Our God is protecting us
July 9, Saturday, 14th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily readings: Isaiah 6:1-8 Gospel: Matthew 10:24-33
God's love protects us, so we must love Him by keeping His commandments.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus says, "Do not be afraid; even the hairs of your head are counted." God is taking care of us.
Sometimes when we love someone, we notice what they have and do not have. When we love, we want to value and fulfill what they do not have. This is the nature of love.
God is protecting us with his immense love. God counted our hairs, which human beings can not do.
In this time of difficulties and pandemics, we may doubt whether God is protecting us or not. Only God alone knows when and how God is watching us.
There is a saying in Myanmar: "If we want shade, we have to pass through under the sun." By sitting, nothing will happen. If we want something, we have to do something. We need to pray to God and, at the same time, work, as in the rule of St. Benedict, "Prayer and work."
At last, Jesus tells us that nothing can be hidden and, at last, it will be shown. The good will win one day in the competition between good and evil. In other words, everybody will be judged on the same day. There will be severe judgment for the evil ones. Everything will be considered, and you cannot hide anything on the last judgment day.
Jesus reminds us that even what we are told or think in the dark will be revealed in the light.
Let us remain devoted to God by avoiding evil and preserving our daily well-being.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
