Let us walk the talk
March 15, Tuesday 2nd Week of Lent
St. Louise De Marillac
Daily Readings: Isaiah 1:10, 16-20; Matthew 23:1-12
People looked upon the Scribes and the Pharisees in place of Moses. But Jesus denounces the Scribes and the Pharisees because they do not follow what they preach.
Their words and actions contradicted one another. They lived a hypocritical life. On the contrary, Jesus encourages his disciples and followers to be kind, selfless servants of people and live an authentic, sober life.
In Matthew 23:12, Jesus says, "All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted." This is the reward for living this way.
Jesus expects his disciples and followers to lead an authentic life and witness a loving counterculture. Consistent faith life is required of believers. Consistency in words and deeds is a hallmark of the Christian life. Hence, we are called to live a transparent and credible life.
Following the example of Jesus, let us try to walk the talk. Preaching is not the essential element; preaching itself is of paramount importance. It is better to carry the burdens of our neighbors than to tie up heavy loads.
Being humble is more important than occupying positions of honor. We can increase our significance in God's kingdom by taking these small steps.
Invite you to show mercy today to one who deserves mercy the most.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
