I am God’s sign!
July 18, Monday, 16th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily readings: Micah 6:1-4, 6-8; Gospel: Matthew 12:38-42
In the Eucharist, Jesus is the true manifestation of God.
The people of Jesus’ time were eager for "signs and wonders." They wanted concrete evidence of God’s presence, but they were limited only to external appearances.
However, Jesus is saying, "You are seeking a sign---I am God’s sign!"
Yes, indeed, He is a sign par excellence. He is God’s presence. His words and actions are also God’s words and actions. His words are the words we need to hear; his actions are the ones we need to witness.
Like Jesus’ contemporaries, we look for signs and wonders: moving or bleeding images and other things created by our imagination!
But Jesus said that no sign would be given to us but Himself. In the Holy Eucharist, Jesus is alive and honest in the Holy Spirit, where love is lived and expressed.
Have we experienced Jesus in the Eucharist as God's presence that is always with us?
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
