Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
Daily Readings: Numbers 7:6-11; Gospel: Matthew.11:25-30
Today we celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus, from which love overflows into our broken world. He suffered, felt pain, laid down his life, and set his heart upon us. From the safest place, Jesus calls us to come to Him with all the realities of our lives.
Today’s celebration is the time to thank God for His compassionate heart. This heart wishes to suffer with us and is an invitation not merely to adore His heart but to live the revelation of a merciful God. When we are in the fullness of love, we can thank Him for all our blessings.
To be grateful means to receive with joy all that God has planned and given. A thankful attitude helps us to be humble. It turns out that God is pleased with people who do not glorify their egos or greatness. Above all, we need to come to Jesus all the time. It means making Jesus the center of our lives and learning from him. Jesus is an example of living in meekness and humility.
