The Greatest Commandments

Today's Gospel marks a pivotal moment when Jesus is tested by a Pharisee who asks which commandment is the greatest.
Jesus responds by summarizing the entire Law and Prophets in two commandments: love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus reduces the essence of religious practice to love. Loving God requires an all-encompassing commitment, urging us to dedicate our hearts, souls, and minds to Him.
This is not merely about religious duty; it’s about cultivating a deep, transformative relationship with the Divine.
Equally important is Jesus’ command to love our neighbors. This calls us to engage with others authentically and compassionately, recognizing that our neighbors can be anyone—family, friends, co-workers, or even those who differ from us in beliefs or values.
By linking these two commandments, Jesus shows that love for God and love for neighbor are inseparable. This connection invites us to reflect: How well does our love for God manifest in our treatment of others?
Our faith must be holistic, where love for God is reflected in tangible acts of kindness, respect, and service toward others.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Radical love has the power to transform not just individual hearts but society as a whole. In a time of division and polarization, the commandment to love is a guiding principle for healing and reconciliation. Let us love one another as God loves us.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
