Humility is knowing that everything you give is a gift you receive from the Lord. Everything you have is not yours; it’s from Him, our Lord, who chooses to bless you abundantly. Therefore, be a cheerful giver, as our heavenly father gives and provides what we need.
As human beings, we need appreciation and recognition; there is nothing wrong with that. God does not prohibit that. God is asking us in the gospel today not to show off the good deeds we have done, trumpet them, or tell others that we have done this and we have done that. It also varies from our intention; others share it to give a good example, and others share it to be proud of themselves and make others feel inferior. Others do it just to show off.
It is good that we examine ourselves occasionally to stay grounded. Remember, everything you have is not yours. It’s a gift from the Lord; therefore, be reminded that we have nothing to boast about but the goodness and depth of Christ's love toward us. Humility means recognizing that we are not without Christ.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
