Eucharist is the precious gift of our loving God
April 26, Wednesday, 3rd Week of Easter
Acts 8:1b-8, John 6:35-40
The first reading today presents the contrast faced by the early Church. On the one hand, the early Christians faced hostility and persecution from those who saw them as a threat to the religious and political order. On the other hand, the disciples preached the Gospel fearlessly, bringing many people to Christ and offering to heal those who were afflicted.
Despite the difficulties they faced, these Christians were strengthened by the promise in today’s Gospel. They knew and trusted that Jesus would lose none of those that the Father had given him. Though they might face earthly trials and even death, ultimately, they would be gathered to the Father to share eternal life. We too share in this promise as we share in the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. Eucharist is the precious gift of our loving God, food to strengthen us for the journey, and our pledge of future glory.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
