August 24, Saturday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time
Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle
Daily Readings: Revelation 21:9-14; John 1:45-51

The Church celebrates the feast of St. Bartholomew, one of the twelve apostles, whose life offers profound insights into our journey of faith.

In the Gospel of John, Bartholomew, also known as Nathanael, is introduced as a "gift of God," embodying the grace of being chosen and transformed by Christ.

When Philip excitedly shared the news of finding the Messiah, Bartholomew skeptically asked, “Can His doubt reflect the questions many of us face in our faith journey. How often do we let our preconceived notions cloud our ability to recognize God’s work in unexpected places?

What makes Bartholomew’s story remarkable is not his doubt but his openness to inquiry. When invited by Philip to “come and see,” Bartholomew accepted, moving from doubt to faith and declaring, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!

As we celebrate his feast, we are reminded of our own call to discipleship. God invites us to "come and see," to deepen our relationship with Him. How can we embody Bartholomew's faith in today's uncertain world?

Call to Action for Catholic Living: May St. Bartholomew inspire us to embrace our doubts, seek the truth, and stand firm in our faith.

Let us discover the joy of encountering Christ, who transforms our lives and calls us to be His witnesses in the world. Amen.
