Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and Archbishop of Goa and Daman, urges all to foster communion among communities.

Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) and Archbishop of Goa and Daman, urges all to foster communion among communities.

He made this call while inaugurating a training program for Vicar Generals organized by Shanti Sadan, the CCBI Secretariat Extension, in Benaulim, Goa, western India, on February 27.

"The communion among communities can be realized amidst the intricate fabric of social, political, religious, cultural, and economic realities. Communion implies the transformation of each local Church into a 'participatory Church,' where all individuals embrace their unique vocations and fulfill their respective roles. Acknowledging, nurturing, and effectively utilizing each member's unique charism is essential," said Cardinal Filipe Neri.

As many as 18 participants from 13 Indian dioceses are taking the course, which started on February 27 and will end on March 3.

The training sessions feature distinguished resource persons, including Justice Filomeno Manuel Reis, Father Nelson Siqueira, Father Boniface Furtado, Brother Edmon Antao, Mr. Sunil Gonsalves, CA, Father Stephen Alathara, Father Rosarioliveira, Father Barry Cardozo, and Father Duming Gonsalves.

In addition to the training, the participants will embark on a pilgrimage to various significant locations, including Sé Cathedral and the Church of the Cross of Miracles in Old Goa, the St. Joseph Vaz Centre in Old Goa, the Tomb of Agnel in Pilar, St. Joseph Vaz Church in Sancoale, and St. John Baptist Church in Benaulim, and conclude with a Holy Mass celebration at Bom Jesus Basilica in Old Goa.

These courses cater to the specific needs of individuals involved in the administrative and financial aspects of the Catholic Church. For inquiries, please contact [email protected] or [email protected], or call 9309110391.
