Indonesian Catholic University, Archdiocese of Jakarta to provide scholarships for deserving students
Atma Jaya Catholic University (Unika) in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Jakarta provides scholarships for needy students in Indonesia.
The financial help is meant for prospective new students in the 2021-2022 school year through the "Atma Care - Let's Go to School Let's Study (ASAK)" program in the Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bekasi areas.
"This scholarship is a manifestation of Atma Jaya's care, which aims to attract the best students who are financially underprivileged but have good academic and non-academic abilities and pass the university entrance test,” said A. Prasetyantoko, university chancellor.
The signing ceremony of the Atma Care ASAK scholarship agreement was done with the Jakarta Archdiocese Socio-Economic Development Commission, at the Atma Jaya University campus.
Present at the event was the Chairman of the Commission for Social and Economic Development of the Archdiocese of Jakarta, Jesuit Father Adrianus Suyadi, who symbolically gave scholarships to two representative students from the Biotechnology study program and the Development Economics program.
Prasetyantoko stated that the scholarship program is part of the 62nd Anniversary of Atma Jaya University.
"As a higher education institution, Atma Jaya is committed to continuing to work and building a real concern for the advancement of national education, including encouraging the development of digital technology on campus," explained Praseyantoko.
"Hopefully this will be a good start in providing opportunities for the younger generation to contribute to the future in building the nation and the church, namely for God and the motherland," he continued.
In line with that, the Chair of the Jakarta Archdiocese's Socio-Economic Development Commission (PSE) Father Suyadi, and the founder of the ASAK Program Justinus Yanto Jayadi Wibisono also provided support for the next generation of scholarship beneficiaries to participate in the ASAK program to build a bright future for themselves and the nation.
According to Wibisono, there are 19 favorite study programs in the Atma Care ASAK scholarship program that prospective students can choose from including Management, Accounting, Development Economics (Finance and Banking), Business Administration, Communication Studies, Tourism, English, Catholic Religious Education, Guidance & Counseling, Elementary School Teacher Education, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, Law, Pharmacy, Psychology, Biotechnology, and Food Technology.
