A seven-day residential retreat cum training program was held at Divine Glory Prayer Tower, Senapati, in the east Indian state of Manipur, from February 21- 27.

Chevalier Cyril John and Father Bobby Emprayil, VC, led the program titled: Jericho 2022: A Call to Prophetic Intercession.

The program was attended by over 100 catechists and lay leaders, including four priests and 15 religious nuns from Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam.

The program aimed at promoting prophetic intercession in Manipur.

Chevalier Cyril John spoke about the urgency of intercession, highlighting the spiritual realities of the Christian life.

John was a member of the International Catholic Charismatic Renewal Services (ICCRS) Council in Vatican and vice-president until 2015.

“You need just one saint to transform your people and place,” said Chevalier Cyril John.  Holiness is the womb of missions,” John said, speaking on the theme of confession, holiness and love.

John, the Chairman of the Indian National Service Team, spoke about the five layers of sanctification: heart, eyes, ears, mind and tongue. He exhorted the participants to “put out into the deep water (Luke 5:4) for a bigger catch in terms of saving thousands of souls, to stand as a bridge between God and his people (Ezekiel 22:30), and to pray according to God’s will.”

Participants learned about the Jericho Prayer based on Joshua 6:1. The participants were asked to pray Psalm 91 and the prayer to St. Michael before they could go out for the Jericho prayer march.

“Charisms are meant for the common good, to equip people for the ministry for building the church. There is no copyright for the charisms. They belong to the church.”

John said people should not charge money as consultation fees for the work of the Holy Spirit.

John was the coordinator of the Delhi Crusaders, Chairman of the Delhi Archdiocesan Service Team, and coordinator of the National Intercession Network in India.

John pointed out that charisms are not adornments for individual Christians. It is the church that possesses the charisms.

Talking about spiritual warfare, John said that “evil one is against those who work for the kingdom of God, who keep the commandment of God, who works for the salvation of souls, and  who bear witness to Christ.”

John offered practical tips to persevere in the ministry of prophetic intercession, like personal prayer, word of God, and sacrament, especially confession and eucharist.

Father Bobby Emprayil, VC, said, “we are here to help. Together we shall save souls.”

Chevalier Cyril John was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1982 and was called to be part of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) leadership team in 1991.

John worked as Joint secretary and chief of protocol in the Indian Parliament for 34 years until 30 November 2016.  He lives in New Delhi with his wife, Elsamma. They have two sons and two daughters.

John is the author of the books: Spurred by the Spirit, Come let us celebrate the Eucharist, Pray Lifting up Holy Hands, Prophetic Intersession: A response to the signs of the time.
