Sri Lanka: Veteran actor and radio announcer Alfred Perera passes away
Veteran Sri Lankan actor and radio announcer Alfred Perera passed away on November 20 at the age of 93.
He worked for a long time as a news anchor for the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. He has also worked as an interpreter in the Parliament of Sri Lanka for a long time.
He was in charge of the Sinhala division of Veritas Radio in Manila, Philippines for a while.
Perera was the founder as well as the founding announcer of the very popular Ferona Samaya program on radio.
He acted in several films like Maruwa Samaga Wase (1977), Sinhawa Atharin (2015) and Sanda Nega Eddi (1966). He has also starred in a number of teledramas.
He was ninety-three years old when he died this afternoon at Mr. Perera's residence in Dalugama. The body will be buried at the supreme funeral home in Makola for the last rites.
Funeral services will be held at Dalugama Church Cemetery on November 22.
