Pope Appoints Sr. Raffaella Petrini as President of Vatican City Governorate

Pope Francis has appointed Sister Raffaella Petrini as the new President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and President of the Governorate of Vatican City State, effective March 1, 2025, according to a statement from the Holy See Press Office.
Sister Petrini, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, has served as Secretary General of the Governorate since 2021.
With this appointment, she becomes the first woman to hold the highest leadership position within the Vatican’s administrative structure.
In her new role, Petrini will oversee the governance of Vatican City, managing its daily operations and policies under the directives of the Holy See.
The Governorate is responsible for security, infrastructure, cultural heritage, and other administrative functions of the Vatican.
She succeeds Cardinal Fernando Vérgez Alzaga, L.C., who has served as President since 2021.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
