The Prison Ministry and Socio-Pastoral Apostolate of the Society of Jesus, Philippine Province, is dedicated to offering guidance and hope to those who have lost their way, especially the youth among Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who have made mistakes in life.

They aim to help these young individuals find their path and regain their dignity through various programs centered on psycho-spiritual growth and empowerment.

One of the key initiatives under this mission is the Resilience Program (RePro), a psycho-spiritual and strengths-based project launched by the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS).

The 18-week program is designed for young PDLs and Children in Conflict with the Law (CICLs) from the Medium Security Camp at New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa.

The goal is to lead them through a journey of self-discovery, where they can develop personal strength and resilience to rise above their past mistakes and look forward to a brighter future.

Upon completion of the program, PJPS is hopeful that the participating youth will emerge with greater awareness, emotional resilience, and a renewed sense of hope, ready to face the challenges of life with a stronger spirit.

“This psycho-spiritual, strengths-based initiative has become a cornerstone of the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS), guiding these youth to uncover their True Selves and build resilience traits that will help them rise above life’s challenges,” a PJPS representative shared.

The program’s success is also attributed to its partnership with the Ruben M. Tanseco, S.J. Center for Family Ministries (RMT-CEFAM). Both PJPS and RMT-CEFAM believe in the importance of continuously reaching out to those who have gone astray.

They stress that offering guidance and compassion is essential for helping these individuals reconnect with their faith and return to the grace of the Lord.

In addition to their ongoing efforts, PJPS plays a significant role in Prison Awareness Week, which is observed annually during the last week of October in the Philippines.

This event serves as a reminder to the Church and its faithful to pray for the welfare, transformation, and conversion of prisoners across the country.

The 37th Prison Awareness Week, scheduled for October 21 to 27, 2024, carries the theme, "The Church through the VIPS: Partners of the PDLs in their Journey Towards Wholeness, Full of Hope."

This special week highlights the importance of prayer and compassion for those imprisoned, as well as the Church's commitment to being an active partner in their journey toward healing and redemption.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.”  Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
