India's Diocese of Ootacamund gears up for Jubilee 2025 with focus on faith, unity, and Vision
The Diocese of Ootacamund, Tamil Nadu, India celebrated a key milestone on the path to Jubilee 2025 by raising the Jubilee flag, symbolizing a renewed spirit of faith and unity on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.
This celebration was part of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India’s (CCBI) Jubilee Yātra to the diocese.
Around 90 priests and religious leaders gathered for a special day focused on updates related to the Synod for a Synodal Church and the upcoming Jubilee.
The gathering was presided over by Bishop A. Amalraj, Bishop of Ootacamund, who warmly welcomed the National Team led by Fr. Yesu Karunanidhi.
In his address, Bishop Amalraj highlighted the Jubilee's significance, said, “Jubilee 2025 is an occasion for celebrating God’s grace and mercy, a time for renewal, and for deepening our faith as we journey together as a Church.”
Msgr. V. Christopher Lawrence, Vicar General, opened the event with an address that emphasized the CCBI’s vision of harmonizing the Synod, Jubilee 2025, and the Pastoral Plan Mission 2033.
He stated, “The CCBI has beautifully connected these milestones, setting a clear path for our Church to move forward in mission and unity.”
Coordinated by Fr.Stephen Lazer, Procurator, and Fr. Felix Jayakumar, Diocesan Contact Person for Jubilee 2025, the event included moments of reflection, learning, and fellowship.
These activities inspired participants to carry the Jubilee spirit into their ministries. During the gathering, the outline of the Pastoral Plan 2033 was presented to attendees, offering guidance for the Church’s future mission.
With the Diocese of Ootacamund’s Jubilee flag now unfurled, it stands as a beacon of faith and hope, inviting all to join in this spiritual journey as the Church prepares for Jubilee 2025.
