Indian Claretian priest gets ‘Best Social Worker Award’
On August 15, the Tamil Nadu State government awarded Father Soosai Antony the title "Best Social Worker."
M. K. Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, gave away the citation and medal to Father Soosai, director of MANASU, a home for wandering men suffering from mental illness based in Chennai, the capital of the southern state, for his service to the needy.
Antony is a member of the Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as the Claretians.
He holds a master's degree in social work and is also director of the Claretian Life Animation Project (CLAP) Trust.
MANASU is a Mental Health Charity Home, a unit of the CLAP.
Soosai dedicates his service to restoring the human face of God by rescuing, recovering, rehabilitating, and reintegrating individual men suffering from mental illness.
