India: Salem youth strengthen spiritual bonds at Yercaud retreat

A two-day Life in the Spirit retreat for Salem Diocesan youth in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu took place from February 14 to 16, 2025, at San Jose Estate, Yercaud.
As many as 35 enthusiastic participants deepened their connection with the Holy Spirit.
The retreat featured talks and sessions by renowned speakers, including Bishop Emeritus S. Singaroyan of Salem Diocese, Fr. Joseph Sagayaraj of Sambalpur Diocese, Fr. Austin Joy MSFS, Fr. Messiah of Salem Diocese, Br. Victor, Br. Wilson, and members of the YU4C team.
The retreat began on February 14 with a Holy Adoration led by Fr. Singarayan, Parish Priest of Boomanur.
Participants, divided into four groups, offered prayers for the Salem Diocese, ending the day with night prayer.
On February 15, the day opened with praise and worship, followed by Bishop Singaroyan’s talk on God’s love and the Holy Spirit.
Fr. Messiah highlighted the dangers of digital influences in his session on sins in modern media and its effects on youth.
In the afternoon, Fr. Austin spoke about the benefits of confession, clarifying the difference between confession and counseling.
Fr. Sagayaraj led a powerful adoration, during which participants received the Sacrament of Confession. The day ended with an inner healing session.
February 16 began with group-led praise and worship, followed by Br. Wilson’s session on The Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
The retreat concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Sagayaraj, which included a special inner healing session.
Ms. Jeni and Ms. Freda expressed gratitude in a heartfelt vote of thanks, followed by an interactive session with the Carmelite Convent Sisters, leaving participants spiritually renewed as they returned to Salem.
