India: Hyderabad Archdiocese marks Jubilee 2025

Hyderabad Archdiocese marks Bicentennial and Jubilee 2025 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on March 18, 2025.

The Archdiocese of Hyderabad in south India joyfully marked its bicentennial anniversary in conjunction with the Jubilee Year 2025 through a solemn Eucharistic celebration and a grand procession on March 18 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Gunfoundry.

The Jubilee procession began at the Rosary Convent Entrance, with hundreds of faithful carrying banners and prayerfully reciting the rosary.

The procession culminated at the Apostolic Square of St. Joseph’s Cathedral, where the Eucharistic celebration took place.

Cardinal Poola Anthony presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration, which was celebrated by the bishops of the Telangana Catholic Bishops’ Council (TCBC) and around 300 priests.

Bishop Sagili Prakash of Khammam delivered a reflection on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope,” encouraging the faithful to live out mercy, reconciliation, and service.

As part of the Jubilee celebrations, Cardinal Anthony also blessed and inaugurated several new facilities within the Cathedral premises, including a new adoration chapel, a presbytery cum Parish Pastoral Centre, and three devotional shrines dedicated to Infant Jesus, St. Joseph, and Our Lady of Velankanni.

These sacred spaces aim to enrich the spiritual lives of pilgrims and parishioners alike.

Adding to the joy of the occasion, the Archdiocesan Youth Band offered a vibrant performance, uplifting the atmosphere with music and devotion.
