India: Goodwill conference is held for youth to promote interreligious solidarity
Over 90 students from nine colleges attended this year’s “Sadbhav” (goodwill) conference in Goa, a western Indian state, on August 3.
‘Yuva Sadbhav’ is an interfaith project for young people from different faiths and beliefs, coming together to dialogue, build relationships, build trust and understanding, and work together for the common good.
Launched in March 2022, the 'Yuva Sadbhav Project' aims to foster genuine interaction among youth by promoting interreligious awareness, overcoming prejudice, and fostering solidarity, says convener Father Elvis Fernandes, a member of the Society of Pilar.
The Pilar Society is an indigenous congregation.
Building bridges toward friendship and understanding will enable the young to create a society with trust, respect, and cooperation between people of different faiths and beliefs, says Fernandes.
Several speakers, representing various faith groups and academics, addressed the gathering.
Aside from that, several fun-filled and group activities marked the event.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
