India: Delhi Pastors' Lenten Recollection held

The Delhi Christian Pastors' Fellowship organized a Pastors' Lenten Recollection at St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church, Hauz Khas, Delhi, India, on March 26.
The meeting began with praise and worship led by Fr. Norbert Herman, SVD. Fr. Gurmail Gill welcomed all the guests, and H.G. John Mor Irenaeus Episcopal honored them with a shawl. Fr. Herman then invited the guests to introduce themselves.
The Lenten season is a significant time for reflection and spiritual growth for pastors and church leaders in Delhi. Below are some key insights and activities related to the Lenten reflections for pastors in the region:
Lenten Retreat
The Delhi Christian Pastors' Fellowship organized a Lenten retreat for bishops, priests, and pastors from the National Capital Region in Delhi. This retreat focused on deepening spiritual practices and strengthening leadership roles during Lent.
The speaker for the day, H.G. Mar Demetrios, reflected on Peter's denial of Jesus.
Biblical Account
Peter's denial, as recorded in all four Gospels, occurs during a critical moment following Jesus' arrest. At the Last Supper, Jesus predicts that Peter will disown Him three times before the rooster crows (John 13:38). After Jesus' arrest, Peter is confronted multiple times about his association with Jesus and denies knowing Him three times, culminating in a moment of deep remorse when he remembers Jesus' prediction (Luke 22:61-62).
Theological Significance
Peter’s actions are often interpreted as a profound failure of faith, contrasting sharply with discipleship. His public denials not only reflect personal weakness but also highlight the struggle between fear and faith in the face of persecution. This incident has been depicted in various artistic works and remains a poignant reminder of human fallibility and the possibility of redemption through repentance.
The Lenten recollection served as a time for self-examination and authenticity. Reflections emphasized the importance of shedding hypocrisy and embracing genuine charity and holiness. This aligns with the call for pastors to lead by example, fostering a community that reflects Christ's love.
Overall, these reflections enriched the Lenten experience for pastors in Delhi, equipping them to guide their congregations through this transformative period leading up to Easter.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Rev. S.K. Bagh. Dr. Fr. Herman introduced Masih Mahotsav and announced that Archbishop Kuriakose Baranikulankara would host the next meeting in December.
Archbishop Kuriakose Baranikulankara pronounced the benediction, and the gathering concluded with a fellowship meal.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ.
