CBCP to hold 'Catholic Social Media Summit' on Nov 26-27
The Media Office of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is collaborating with YouthPinoy and Areopagus Communications to host a two-day online conference on November 26 and 27.
The purpose of the summit is to keep church employees informed of the most effective means of spreading the gospel, which is through modern digital media.
The seminar will focus on "updating participants on optimal social media practices that are in good taste and improve the mission, efficacy, and identity of Catholic media ministry," according to the event's organizer.
Young professionals and communications and multimedia experts from various dioceses and congregations across the country are expected to participate.
The event’s organizer said that the participants of the summit will learn about different aspects related to social media platform ministry.
The statement said the participants would learn about the current state and influence of social media and how to get communicators to use their voices to defend the church, including "tools on fighting disinformation, outlining the procedures and standards of fact-checking."
The summit will also discuss the benefits and power of building and having an online and social media community, especially how to use the power of Facebook advertisements in line with the platform's terms and policies.
The conference will also address issues such as email and social media content and copywriting, which have an impact on communication and engagement, according to the statement.
