Cambodia hosts 8th International Interfaith Dialogue between Buddhism and Christianity

On April 10, 2025, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, hosted the 8th International Interfaith Dialogue between Buddhism and Christianity.
"Buddhists and Christians together to build peace through reconciliation and tolerance" was the theme.
The event was planned by the Cambodian Catholic Community and the Ministry of Cults and Religion
The assembly was addressed by Apostolic Vicar Olivier Michel Marie Schmitthaeusler of Phnom Penh and Minister of Cults and Religions Chay Borin.
Both leaders underlined the need to cooperate for peace by means of reconciliation and resilience.
Leaders of Buddhism and Christianity talked about how to encourage interreligious discussion and collaboration in meeting the difficulties mankind confronts in a fast-changing society.
They underlined again the need of promoting knowledge, developing relationships, and disseminating the intellectual core of any religion.
The delegates say that today's mankind faces different difficulties. Notwithstanding these challenges, delegates voiced a common belief that by means of unity and the use of love and compassion based on their individual religious heritage, they might be a light of hope to a struggling world.
Christians and Buddhists both underlined how love and compassion counteract the gloom of society. They promised to work with great responsibility to foster an empathetic society.
Cambodia has a diverse religious landscape, with Buddhism being the dominant religion, alongside other faiths like Christianity, Islam, and indigenous practices. There are about 25,000 Catholics in Cambodia.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
