Archdiocese of Imphal hosts Jubilee Programme for sick and healthcare workers

On April 6, 2025, the Archdiocese of Imphal, northeastern India, hosted a special jubilee program dedicated to sick and healthcare workers at the Catholic Medical Centre (CMC) in the College of Nursing Auditorium.

The event, attended by approximately 150 participants, including 15 healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses, featured esteemed dignitaries like Archbishop Linus Neli of Imphal and Dominic Lumon, the Emeritus Archbishop of Imphal, along with seven priests and 19 religious sisters.

The day began at 10:00 AM with a vibrant inaugural ceremony, which included a song by the CMC College of Nursing and the symbolic Lighting of the Lamp performed by the dignitaries.

Father Khumlo Tangshel Anal, director of CMC, delivered a heartfelt welcome address to kick off the proceedings.

A group song by the staff from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) further fostered a spirit of camaraderie.

Father Ivan Santosh Dias, CBCI Secretary of the Health Commission, delivered an insightful speech, stating, “Healthcare for the Catholic Church is an apostolate and not just a profession,” highlighting the service-oriented and ethical dimensions of healthcare within the faith-based context.

The program continued with a group performance by the staff from the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).

Father T.S. Dominic, parish priest of Awangkhul, presented a discourse on "Moral and Ethical Practices of Medical Professionals," emphasizing the essential ethical considerations for healthcare professionals.

The afternoon session culminated in a Holy Eucharistic Celebration led by Archbishop Linus Neli, offering a moment of spiritual reflection for both the sick and the healthcare workers present.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Benedict, AYUSH State Nodal Officer, who expressed gratitude to the organizers, speakers, participants, and all those who contributed to the success of the Jubilee Programme.

This event not only highlighted the importance of healthcare as a mission but also fostered unity and deep reflection among all attendees.
