Bishop Bartolome Gaspar Santos: A Life of service in the Church

Bishop Bartolome Gaspar Santos

Bishop Bartolome Gaspar Santos was born on December 1, 1967, in Santa Maria, Bulacan, within the Diocese of Malolos, Philippines.

His journey in the Church began with his education at the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary of Malolos, followed by studies in philosophy and theology at the University of Santo Tomas Ecclesiastical Faculties in Manila.

In 1999, he earned a licentiate in biblical theology from the prestigious Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

Ordained a priest in August 1992, Bishop Santos first served as vicar at San Pascual Baylon Parish in Obando from 1992 to 1994, followed by San Isidro Labrador Parish in Bulacan from 1994 to 1995.

After completing his studies in Rome, he returned home and served as spiritual director and professor at the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary from 1995 to 1996.

His leadership and dedication led to his appointment as rector of the seminary from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, he was appointed rector and moderator of the pastoral team at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Valenzuela City, before becoming parish priest in 2010.

In 2013, he was appointed Vicar General of the Diocese of Malolos, a role he held until his ordination as Bishop on April 30, 2018. He was subsequently installed as Bishop of Iba on May 25 of the same year.

Bishop Santos’ extensive pastoral experience, coupled with his theological expertise, continues to guide his ministry as he shepherds the faithful in the Diocese of Iba.
