Standing Against Injustice: A Call to Live the Gospel
July 20, Saturday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Isaiah 1:10-17; Matthew 10:34-11:1
In the first reading, Prophet Micah delivers a powerful message of judgment and rebuke against the leaders of Israel. He vividly describes their actions—characterized by greed, exploitation, and violence—which have devoured the homes of the innocent, leaving them desolate. Their unjust actions have caused widespread suffering and devastation.
Meanwhile, in the Gospel, the Pharisees and Sadducees attempt to trap Jesus with a question about the Sabbath. This moment reveals Jesus’ true identity as the chosen servant, fulfilling the messianic prophecies foretold by Prophet Isaiah.
Jesus is not just a prophet or teacher but the Messiah, commissioned by God to proclaim the kingdom of God to all nations. His universal mission emphasizes that His message is for all humanity.
In today’s society, greed, exploitation, and violence continue to damage lives and erode morality. As Christians and disciples, we are called to be a counter-cultural force in society.
Call to Action for Catholic Living: Let us stand for justice, peace, love, equality, and fraternity, creating a ripple effect of goodness in our communities. By following the gospel and kingdom values, we can partake in the universal mission of Christ.
Lord, make us partakers in Your mission. Amen.
Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
