The greatest in the Kingdom
Monday, 26th Week in Ordinary Time
Daily Readings: Zechariah 8:1-8 & Luke 9: 46 – 50
Reflection Date: September 27, 2021
Jesus realized the intention of their hearts.
Jesus pays a lot of attention to the little ones, unlike us who love to pay greater attention to the VIP's of this world. First, he takes a little child and puts him in the middle. Then Jesus makes the child a model for his disciples: "Whoever humbles Himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." The policy of God is: "The one who humbles himself will be exalted (Lk. 18: 14)."
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be great. Since we are made in God's image and likeness, and our God is a great God, it is natural and praiseworthy for us to aspire to greatness. But Jesus tells us in the Gospel that greatness does not consist of making it big or being big time or big shot. In fact, in Jesus' eyes, the one who is least among us is the one who is the greatest.
And elsewhere, we learn from him that to be least means to be humbly at the service of all. He who serves most is the least and is the greatest (Mt. 20: 26 – 27).
Let us strive to be like the children who genuinely manifest in themselves innocence, humility, and simplicity.

Radio Veritas Asia (RVA), a media platform of the Catholic Church, aims to share Christ. RVA started in 1969 as a continental Catholic radio station to serve Asian countries in their respective local language, thus earning the tag “the Voice of Asian Christianity.” Responding to the emerging context, RVA embraced media platforms to connect with the global Asian audience via its 21 language websites and various social media platforms.
