RVM congregation elects new superior general
Philippines: The Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), the oldest and largest Filipino Catholic religious congregation, elected Mother Ma. Rosabella Gallo as its superior general.
Her election was announced Monday as the congregation holds its 21st General Chapter at Betania Retreat House in Quezon City.
Gallo succeeded Mother Ma. Corazon Agda, who served the post for six years.
Prior to her new post, the nun served as the congregation’s secretary general since 2016.
She also served as president of St. Mary’s College in Quezon City.
The country’s first all-Filipino religious congregation for women was founded in 1684 by the Venerable Mother Ignacia del Espiritu Santo.
The RVM sisters are involved in educational and social ministries and are also present in Italy, Taiwan, Pakistan, USA, Canada, Ghana, and Indonesia. - CBCP News
