Pope Francis names Fr Herman Abcede as Bishop of the Diocese of Daet

Pope Francis has appointed Rogationist missionary Fr. Herman Abcede as the new bishop of the Diocese of Daet.
Bishop-elect Abcede will succeed Archbishop Rex Andrew Alarcon, who was appointed Archbishop of Caceres last year.
He will oversee the pastoral care of more than half a million Catholics in the diocese, which comprises 30 parishes across Camarines Norte.
Fr. Ronald Anthony Timoner, the current vicar general, assumed the role of diocesan administrator following the diocese's sede vacante.
Ordained as a priest in 1996, Abcede previously served as the Provincial Superior of the Rogationists in Asia and the Pacific. He is currently the Superior of the Community of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Parañaque City.
He holds a specialization in canon law from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and has served as Defender of the Bond for both the Archdiocese of Manila and the Diocese of Parañaque.
At present, he is also a judge for the Ecclesiastical Court of First Instance in Parañaque.
Abcede will be the second Filipino Rogationist appointed as a bishop, following Melbourne Auxiliary Bishop Rene Ramirez.
