Order of Discalced Carmelites to Hold Congress on Prayer II

The Order of Discalced Carmelites in the Philippines will hold the Congress on Prayer II: Confidence in Love on April 9, 2025, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Cubao, Quezon City, which is situated under the Diocese of Cubao.
This significant gathering will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus's canonization, highlighting her profound spiritual legacy and the simplicity of her “Little Way” of love and trust in God.
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has expressed its full support for the event, with Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, Bishop of Kalookan and CBCP president, encouraging the faithful to participate in this sacred gathering of prayer and reflection.
“I encourage all of you, especially our dear youth, to participate in this sacred assembly. May this congress be an opportunity for renewal in our prayer life and an invitation to entrust ourselves completely to God’s love, following the example of St. Thérèse,” he said.
Also extending his support is Bishop Elias L. Ayuban, Jr., CMF of Cubao, who welcomes the faithful to engage in this spiritual renewal within his diocese.
“This is more than just a gathering; it is a moment of grace, a chance to deepen our prayer life, and to rediscover the power of God’s love. Let us come together in faith and confidence, just as Saint Thérèse did," he said.
The congress will feature Socrates B. Villegas, Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, as the main speaker, leading moments of prayer and reflection.
The event aims to celebrate the centenary of Saint Thérèse’s canonization, emphasizing her timeless influence on Catholics worldwide. It also seeks to deepen understanding of Teresian Carmelite spirituality, inspiring a life of prayer, humility, and trust in God’s mercy.
Additionally, the congress will serve as an avenue to promote vocations to the Order of Discalced Carmelites, encouraging more individuals to respond to contemplative and apostolic service within the Church.
David invited all the faithful to join this grace-filled event, “Let us come together as one family of faith, confident in the love of Christ, as we celebrate this milestone in the life of the Church.”
Ayuban also expressed his hope that the congress would renew devotion to Saint Thérèse’s spirituality, particularly among young people, and inspire them to entrust their lives to God’s love.
The Congress on Prayer II is open to all clergy, religious, lay faithful, and devotees of Saint Thérèse. Attendees are encouraged to bring their families and participate in this prayerful celebration of faith and confidence in God’s mercy.
